Birchbox June 2016: Paradise Found Box
This months Birchbox is the Paradise Found edition. The box comes in two prints, Palm Trees and Pineapples. As you can see from the image above, I received the Palm Trees print. You may also have noticed that the box is a little different in the sense that is has a drawer like design in comparison to the usual Birchbox design. Personally I love this new design but I’d imagine some people simply wouldn’t like the change. Anyway, as usual the box retails at £10.00 plus £2.95 for postage + packaging and can be purchased on the Birchbox website (link) If you’d like to see what I received in last month’s box, be sure to check out my Birchbox May 2016 blog post. Here’s what I got in this month’s box:
Percy and Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray (link)
The first thing I received in my Birchbox June 2016 box was the Percy and Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray. This is said to have an ultra fine formula that is humidity resistant and free from that awful crunchy hair spray feeling. Personally I don’t use hairspray and if I did I’m not sure how much use I’d get out of this little can but I know my mam uses so I’ll be sure to pass this onto her. I’ve heard quite a few great things about Percy and Reed products so I’m assuming it’ll be better than your standard hairspray. The full size product (250ml) retails at £12.00.
Laura Mercier Souffle Body Creme in Ambre Vanilla (link)
The second product I received in my Birchbox June 2016 box was the Laura Mercier Souffle Body Creme in Ambre Vanilla. This is said to have a rich whipped formula and contains grape seed, sweet almond, rice bran oils, vanilla extract and honey. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this stuff. Basically I apply this cream after I’ve bathed or showered and it adds this wonderfully yummy scent to the skin. Not only that but it helps to hydrate and soothe the skin without being greasy or oily. Once rubbed into the skin it leaves it feeling so smooth and moisturised. Sadly I’m coming to the end of my 25g sample and I’m not sure whether I’ll repurchase purely because this stuff is pretty pricey and I’m trying to keep my spending to a minimum at the moment. For the full size product (300g) the body cream retails at £45.00.
James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face (link)
Next up I received the James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Tan Face. This is a colourless mask that claims to give the skin a golden tan overnight. I’m always a bit weary of facial tanning products as I have this fear that I’ll wake up with a severely orange face. Nevertheless I probably will end up trying this, I’m just waiting to do so when I’ve got a few days off work just in case anything goes wrong, that way I won’t have to face anyone. The full size version of this product (50ml) retails at £25.00.
Absolution Le Nettoyant Purete (link)
The fourth product I received in my Birchbox June 2016 box was the Absolution Le Nettoyant Purete. This is a gel cleanser that contains natural ingredients such as chamomile and oats. The formula is said to remove dirt and reduce redness and irritation. I’ve tried this a couple of times but I just cannot get on with it I’m afraid. Don’t get me wrong the actual cleansing ability of this gel is pretty good, not the best but good, it is the scent that I dislike. It is so strong and herbal, something I’m just not a fan. The full size version of this product retails at £26.00.
Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigment in Cake Pop
And last but not least I received the Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigment in Cake Pop in my Birchbox June 2016 box. This product is full size and is said to add a pop of colour to both the lips and the cheeks. I’ve been really enjoying this pigment, especially on my lips. In the jar Cake Pop appears as a vibrant red toned pink but on the lips it gives a wonderful pink shade that is a little more vibrant than my natural lip colour. This product is a lot more pigmented that I was expecting so when applying do keep that in mind. Although I’ve been using this on my lips it can also be applied to the cheeks too. Sadly because I’ve got quite dry cheeks I’ve found this doesn’t quite blend as well as I’d like but oddly on the lips it feels quite hydrating. The full size version of this product (4g) retails at £17.95.
