LOC Vibrant Matte Lipsticks: Affordable Pigmented Lip Colour
You may or may not be aware but the lovely people over at Birchbox, the monthly subscription beauty box company, now have an in-house makeup brand called LOC. LOC stands for Love Of Color and at the moment the range consists of six products, three Vibrant Matte Lipsticks and three One and Done Shadow Sticks. The range is made up of vibrant colours and products for each season. The products are also quite compact in size meaning that you can keep on trend for the season and you can build up your collection of different shades as the products are very reasonably priced (lipsticks are £6.50 each whereas the shadow sticks retails at £8.00, although you can save yourself money by buying the product bundles which enable you to get more for your money) Anyway, I was extremely lucky to receive some of the Love Of Color products to try out and today I thought I’d share my thoughts on the LOC Vibrant Matte Lipsticks.
LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick in Trouble
The first lipstick shade I received was Trouble. Trouble is a very classic red shade that has a little bit of a blue tone to it. Out of all three shades it is my least favourite purely because I’m not that keen on reds. However, even though it isn’t my kind of shade, I do find it an extremely pretty colour. If you’re someone who loves reds or you are after a fun shade for Spring or Summer, this is definitely something worth checking out. The lipstick applies nice and easily due to the rounded tip and the shade really does pack a punch as it is really wonderfully pigmented. Another plus about Trouble is that it makes the teeth appear much brighter and whiter which is definitely down to the blue tone it has to it. I think this is a classy yet fun colour that a lot of people would love. One thing I would like to point out is that because it has a matte formula you do have to ensure that your lips are well prepped as it will accentuate any dry areas but on the plus side, Trouble definitely doesn’t have a drying formula which is something refreshing as a lot of matte formula lippies are known to be drying on the lips. In terms of wear time Trouble lasts really quite well on the lips, even when eating and drinking I can get around 5 hours of good wear out of it.
LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick in Skinny Dip
The next shade I received was Skinny Dip. Skinny Dip is a pink toned beige nude. Much like the case with Trouble it applies very well to the lips due to the design and it has extremely good colour pay off. Skinny Dip is definitely a shade that I’ve fallen in love with. The colour suits my pale cool toned complexion extremely well and is absolutely perfect for day-to-day wear, plus it looks cracking teamed up with a smokey eye. Just like Trouble, this does unfortunately accentuate patches on the lips, if fact I’d say it does so much worse than Trouble so you definitely need to invest in a good lip scrub to ensure that you get that nice smooth application. As for wear time it is pretty good but definitely seems to fade a little quicker than Trouble and doesn’t survive as well when it comes to eating and drinking.
LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick in Uncorked
And the final lipstick I received was in the shade Uncorked. Uncorked is my absolute favourite shade out of the three. I love it so much that it even got a mention in my March 2016 Favourites post. Uncorked is a super beautiful berry pink shade. It is extremely similar to the MAC Lipstick in the shade Rebel which is a favourite colour of mine but a product that doesn’t come cheap. Uncorked has top-notch pigmentation and applies very well. It isn’t drying, in fact I’d say it has a very slight creamy formula which makes the product easy to work with. For wear time it seems to stay put well during eating and drinking but I do recommend using a lip liner with this colour as it can noticeably feather. If you’re not sure of what lip liner to use, I recommend the Makeup Revolution Lip Liner in the shade Rebel (link) as its extremely affordable (£1) and the closest colour to Uncorked I’ve come across.
All in all I really have been liking the LOC Vibrant Matte Lipsticks. I think for the price they are very good performers and the colour range is small, yet satisfying. I hope in the future that LOC are going to add to their line to include some other colours but in the mean time these three colours are definitely not disappointing. If you’d like to purchase the LOC Vibrant Matte Lipsticks they are available to purchase individually for £6.50 (link) or you can buy all three as a set for £14.00 (link) Also, be sure to read my review of LOC One and Done Shadow Sticks blog post.
