The MUA Pretty Pastels Palette retails at £4.00 and is available to buy on the MUA website and also in Superdrug stores.
The packaging that the shadows come in is sadly prone to cracks and scratches but I suppose for the price you pay, it is sort of expected.
I’m a sucker for highlighting and eye brightening shadows so I thought the Make Up Academy Pretty Pastels Palette would be perfect for me. Firstly the palette contains 12 shades, all of which are shimmery and blend well. I really like how there is a wide range of colours in the palette. You’ve got pinks, lilac, yellows, greens and blues so there is plenty of variety. One thing that does let the shadows down is the pigmentation and texture. Each shade is pretty sheer and chalky in texture which can become quite messy. Although the shadows blend well, in terms of staying power, they aren’t the best which I think is a real shame. Of course the use of a primer or a good base will improve their cons so I highly recommend teaming them up with one you trust and find works well to get the most out of these shadows that you possibly can.
- Nice range of shades
- Good eye brightening, highlighting colours
- Blend well
- Packaging is prone to scratches and cracks
- Quite sheer
- Longevity isn’t the best
- Can be a little messy and are a tad chalky
Although this palette is nice, it isn’t anything really spectacular. I sort of feel like the Pretty Pastels palette really lets the other MUA palettes down as other palettes I’ve tried such as Heaven and Earth and Glamour Days are much better quality. Sure the shades are nice and really do brighten the eyes but they are sheer and don’t last at all.
