What is it?
It’s a palette that contains ten baked eyeshadows, all of which are all quite neutral but the palette also contains a couple of darker shade which are suitable for creating nice smokey eyes.
Price
The ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California retails at £10.00 and is available to purchase on the Eyes Lips Face website.
Packaging
The eye shadows come in a sturdy black plastic palette which contains a large mirror. So far I haven’t found any issues with it other than it’s prone to finger prints.

My thoughts
When I first spotted this product on the eyes lips face website, I was super excited. I love baked eyeshadows but I don’t own that many so a whole palette full seemed like a good thing to get. I opted for the palette California which is full of super sparkly nude shades with the addition of a grey silver and a sort of red toned purple. When I say super sparkly, I mean glitter galore. If you’re a glitterphobe or are someone looking for some nice natural daytime friendly eye makeup, I’d pass on this. Because these eyeshadows are baked it means they can be used wet or dry. I’ll be honest, in my opinion the shadows used dry are really underwhelming. I found them to really lack in pigmentation and to be prone to messy fallout, which when glitter is involved, gets much messier than regular shades. Having said that I did find each colour blended well but I was disappointed with the lasting power. 4 hours and they were virtually unrecognisable on my lids. I mean they didn’t crease so I can’t fault them on that, but they literally seemed to just disappear. As for using them wet, the pigmentation is obviously much better but some of the actual eyeshadows are hard to pull off for me. Some are simply too close to my skin tone and too light whereas others are quite orange and don’t work on me at all which is a real shame.
Review | ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California
Pros
  • Cheap
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Contains a large mirror
  • Can be used dry or wet
  • Contains some beautiful nude shimmery metallic shades great for nights out and special occasions
  • Pigmentation when used wet is pretty good
  • Blend well
Cons
  • Packaging is prone to finger prints
  • When used dry the pigmentation isn’t that great at all
  • Shadows are prone to fall out
  • Lasting power isn’t great so a decent primer is required in my opinion
  • Because the shadows are jam packed full of glitter, it makes them not so daytime friendly
  • Some shades are simply too nude for my liking whereas others are too orange for me to pull off

Overall
I wouldn’t repurchase this palette. I had high hopes for it, especially after loving the ELF Baked Eyeshadow in Pixie but it seems that the eyeshadows in this palette are not the same quality as the single ones which is a let down. I mean it’s not terrible but it’s not something I love or reach for regularly.
