Bonjour French Food Box

Want to hear about the Bonjour French Food Box?
Bonjour French Food Box

If you are someone who likes to try out foreign foods, this is one box I highly recommend checking out. The Bonjour French Food Box is a surprise food monthly subscription box which contains a selection of between five and seven items. The items are said to be traditional and even come all the way from France. As you can probably already tell, the box is designed for French food lovers who enjoy gourmet goods. With the boxes you get to make new discoveries every month (Although you can just opt for a one off box for £32.00 to give it a try and see if you like it) There are currently three options, the one off box for £32.00, the pre-paid three month subscription of £86.00 and the other pre-paid subscription of 6 months for £163.00. Obviously the boxes aren’t the cheapest but it is good to keep in mind that the contents are top quality and gourmet, oh and shipping costs are also included in the prices.
So what did I receive in my box? Well I got Beer Pasta, Wild Boar Terrine, Chocolate Praline Spread, a Wild Boar Saucisson and a box of Chestnut Honey Biscuits. My favourites of the bunch would most certainly have to be the chocolate spread and the biscuits as they were utterly scrummy and really cured my sweet cravings. For the beer pasta I am slightly intrigued. I don’t drink alcohol (not for any religious reason or anything, I just simply do not like the taste nor do I like the feeling of being intoxicated, even if it is slightly) Anyway, I guess it all depends on how much beer the pasta contains and how strong it is whether I’ll get on with it but from past experience if a food contains the slightest booze, I can taste it whether it be liqueur chocolates or a mild steak and ale pie, I’ll be able to detect the alcohol and automatically dislike it but I guess we’ll just have to see. The other two items in my box were a bit shall we, say out there, firstly I have to be 110% honest and say there is no way on Earth that I will be trying the Wild Boar Saucisson. When I received my box the product was wrapped in some blue tissue paper. I had no clue what it was and I have to say, when I unwrapped it, I felt as though I had made one of the biggest mistakes in my entire 20 years of life. The smell literally nearly knocked me out. It couldn’t have been that bad surely? Let me explain, it stank of a combination of sweat, faeces, urine, sick and smelly feet. I very, very nearly threw up and immediately had to wrap it back up, throw it in the box and get it as far away from me as possible. At first I thought the product may have been out of date or it had its odor due to the shipping conditions but after a good old Google I think it may have something to do with it being Wild Boar as I’ve read a lot of things online about the meat smelling bad. Anyway, the other item I got (which I’m still yet to try) was the Wild Boar Terrine, again this isn’t something I’ve come across here in the UK but I guess we’ll see what it is like. Oh, also in my box I received a 12 page magazine which contained writing in both English and French as well as background information on the products, the region they came from and about their producers. It also contained some recipes and tips which I felt was a really nice touch.
One other thing that I found out about the box company was that it provides full time jobs to more than 80 disabled workers. Their job is to carefully curate each parcel at the ESAT Dumonteil which is located within walking distance from the Bonjour Box office. Oh and the company don’t just ship to here in the UK, oh no, they also ship to Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxemberg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. If your country isn’t on the list and you want to get your hands on a box, fear not, if you drop an email over to the Bonjour team they can whip up a quote for you and get some info sent over.
