When it comes to life I have so many things I want to do before I die. However, one thing that gets in the way is money, well a lack of. I know they say money doesn’t make you happy but let’s be honest, it can take a lot of stress away. I mean if I didn’t have a mortgage to worry about I firmly believe I’d be happier. However, I also realise how incredibly lucky I am in my position. That being said, there is nothing wrong with me fantasising about winning the lottery bet, is there? I don’t think so!
So the real question is if I did win big, what would I do? Well after paying off my mortgage as well as my loved one’s mortgages and giving them all a big chunk of money, I’d start to have myself a bit of fun. The first thing I’d do with a large chunk of money? A bit of travelling of course.
1. Travel to South Korea
I love learning about Asia, particularly Korean culture. So naturally, a trip abroad would be top of my list. I’d absolutely love to explore Seoul. In Seoul, I’d check out the Trick Eye Museum which mixes both art and augmented reality, I’d then pick up some Etude House beauty products and of course I’d check out one of the many convenience stores and grab a packet of Shin Ramyun. Speaking of food I’d also check out some of the street food offerings like tteokbokki and kimbap.
Another item on the menu I’d definitely be sampling would be some tasty famous Korean fried chicken washed down with some beer. Then, of course, I’d have to go for Korean BBQ just to sample some bulgogi and galbi. Once I’d stuffed my face then would be the time for more exploring. I’d, of course, check out Dongdaemun, one of Seoul’s biggest shopping districts which is said to be super lively between 10pm to 5am. After I’ve shopped till I’ve dropped and had a good sleep at Hotel Karashy I’d then finish off my trip by heading to Insadong and picking up some souvenirs for my family.
2. Splash the cash
Once I’d returned from the trip I’d probably start splashing the cash on some rather extravagant purchases like a really great gaming PC, a whole new makeup collection and of course I’d grow my Funko POP collection. Oh, and I for sure would buy all the BTS merch I could get my hands on and buy meet and greet tickets for their next tour. I’d also make another few purchases like revamping my wardrobe and buying some pretty homeware pieces for my house.
As well as buying bits and pieces I’d also splash the cash on experiences. I’d take all my loved ones out for some fancy dining at some really posh restaurants around the country. I’d also head to the West End to watch Wicked before hopping in a hot air balloon with Pete.
3. Donate some money and spend money on supplies for important causes
As well as going absolutely nuts with the money I’d also do some donating to causes that are important to me. The first? Local food banks. Recently I read that 1,332,952 three-day emergency food supplies delivered to people in crisis in the past year. That is a whopping 13% increase on last year, compared with a rise of 6% the year before. It angers me that in a developed county such as the UK that people have to go hungry and I’d love to be able to help out more so this is something I’d definitely donate to.
Another cause I’d donate to? I’d like to help with local animal shelters like Bryson’s who provide shelter for dogs, cats, goats and other animals. Most of the animals in their care have been either abandoned, they’ve been lost with no trace of their owner, they’ve been badly treated or their owner has died leaving no one to care for them. It costs a huge £250,000 a year to give the animals the level of care they deserve and because Bryson’s is funded entirely from donations this is a cause I would 100% support if I had the funds.
All in all, winning a big jackpot would be an absolute dream for me. Not only would I be able to help others in need, I’d also be able to experience things I otherwise would never be able to. Hey you know what they say, don’t you? You’ve got to be in it to win it!
What would you do if you won a fortune?
