With the BTS Love Yourself: Tear album released in late May I thought it was about time that I shared my love for a few of the tracks on the album. Now admittedly I don’t love the album quite as much as Love Yourself: Her. However, I think it is going to be one of those albums that grow on me. There are a few songs on the album that I enjoy. However, the four mentioned below are the ones I really, really love.
The first song from the BTS Love Yourself: Tear album that I love is Anpanman. If you read my post on catchy songs I listened to in May then you’ll have already known a few of my thoughts on the song. Honestly out of all the tracks on the album I would definitely say that this is my favourite. Not sure who or what Anpanman is?
Well, Anpanman is a Japanese superhero who has an Anpan for a head which is basically a bean-jam filled pastry. He can save starving people by letting them take bites out of his head. Although in the process, he gets hurt and needs a new head baked. Basically, in the song, BTS are saying that it’s about giving so much of yourself even to the point that you have nothing left. Despite the quite deep meaning, Anpanman is a tune that will have you dancing along, bopping your feet and singing along with the chorus.
The second song from the BTS Love Yourself: Tear album that I love is Fake Love. This is the title track from the album and contains some super smooth harmonies and really catchy beats. The song itself is super powerful and shows a darker side to BTS than we are used to seeing. Fake Love is basically about hiding your “bad” side in a relationship. Also how this will not work and eventually hiding things will lead to the breakdown of a relationship. In a nutshell, if you don’t truly love yourself then it is never going to last.
The third song from the BTS Love Yourself: Tear album that I love is Magic Shop. Magic Shop is a mix of pop and EDM written for the BTS fandom and produced by youngest member Jungkook. The song is about how each member of the Korean boyband has struggles but their fans help them with their support. I particularly like the lyric “You gave me the best of me, so you’ll give you the best of you” I think it is sung utterly beautifully by all the members at the end of the track.
The fourth and final song from the BTS Love Yourself: Tear album that I love is So What. So What is a cracking EDM track that says that it is okay to break the rules every so often and be rebellious. The song feels youthful and gives off the vibe that we should enjoy being young, relax and say “So What” My favourite part of the song? The lyric “We are we are we are, young & wild & free” It is just such a gorgeous line.
What songs from Love Yourself: Tear are you loving?
