Being a blogger is honestly awesome. For me it is something I am super passionate about and I thoroughly enjoy writing on my little corner of the internet. I also love the opportunities I am given as well as the community. Today I thought I’d share 5 light hearted “blogger problems” with you all that you too have probably experienced too.
1. When A PR Contacts You and Calls You Something Not Even Remotely Close To Your Name
The other day someone contacted me and referred to me as Marta now I understand these mistakes happen however, when I corrected said PR they continued to call me Marta. There has also been an occasion where I was accidentally an sent email intended for big YouTuber (Do not ask me how this happened, I’m still trying to figure it out myself as their name and email address are literally nothing like mine) lets just say that this YouTuber got offered A LOT of money to promote the product in question (I’m talking WELL into the thousands for a mere mention of a product) Anyway, I had the decency not to go shouting this from the rooftops but imagine if the email was sent to the kind of person who would declare it to anybody and everybody and expose the Vloggers income, it could have been a big PR booby.
2. When One Of Your Favourite Brands Gets In Touch and You Can’t Quite Contain Your Excitement
Admittedly I get pretty darn excited when practically any company gets in touch with me but when one of my absolute all time favourite brands or companies gets in touch, I go into a crazy fangirl state of mind. This usually consists of me jumping round the room telling my other half just how truly awesome the opportunity is whilst he smiles and nods, blissfully unaware of just how amazing the moment is.
3. When a PR Suggests You Share Their Infograph However They Have No Budget But Tell You It’ll Be “Mutually Beneficial”
Every single day I get emails asking me to share Infographs or press releases. When I go back to the PR and ask how this will benefit me I get the whole “We do not have a budget but this will be mutually beneficial” So essentially they want you to pop said article/document/picture on your blog for nothing whilst they get exposure and/or backlinks. How exactly is this beneficial for me? The answer is, it is not.
4. When You Edit Your Blog’s Coding and It All Of A Sudden Breaks
You know when you look at your blog and think “I want to move that area slightly to the left” or “I want to add this teeny tiny piece of simple coding to my blog” you go in, edit your code and think everything is fine and dandy and then BOOM your blog breaks and you go into full on panic station mode. Yeah, I’ve been there many a time.
5. When a PR Thinks By Sending You Products They’re Entitled To A Rave Review and Try To Get You To Change Your Post
Now lets get one thing clear. When I am sent a PR sample I am super grateful HOWEVER, by sending me something for free you are not entitled to a rave review of your product. When I receive PR samples I am honest and fair. If I do not like something I am not going to sugar coat it, lie and be all nice about the product. I’ll tell the truth and say how I feel about it. My blog is exactly that, it is MY blog. I have complete control over it and all its content and I will say and write exactly what I want. Rant over!
