7Lions – Born 2 Run
The first of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is 7Lions – Born 2 Run. This is a kind of rock, pop and hip-hop mix. It’s just a great song that you can bop along to. To me, it has sports theme written all over it so I was not surprised to hear that in the past it has been featured by the NFL, NASCAR, MLB, ESPN and WWE. Oh, and it’s also worth pointing out that this song isn’t new, it’s been out since 2012. However, that doesn’t take away the fact that it is an absolute banger of a tune. My favourite lyric of the song? “If the sky turns black, it don’t matter. We know the sun is coming up.” You know the score, give the tune a listen below.
BTS – Anpanman
The second of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is BTS – Anpanman. I’ve quite heavily (and that is putting it politely) featured the Korean boyband on my blog. I mean just recently I talked about 5 of my favourite BTS songs. Not long before that, I shared my review of the BTS Love Yourself: Her Album. Then back in March, I mentioned them in my favourite songs of March blog post and then again in my favourite songs of April post. Heck, I even mentioned the seven-piece K-Pop boy group back in my January 2018 favourites. To say I am a little obsessed would be an understatement.
Anyway, this month BTS released their new album Love Yourself: Tear. On the album, there are a few tracks that I love and Anpanman is most definitely my favourite out of the bunch. Anpanman is a fun hip-hop track that is sure to get you hyped up. The chorus is super catchy and the actual tune of the song is highly addictive. My favourite line of the track? “Keep ballin’, ballin’ still Bangtan” Do be sure to check out the boyband’s impressive comeback performance of the track below. It is an absolute treat.
J-Hope – Hope World
The third of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is J-Hope – Hope World. If you’re not familiar with J-Hope (Where have you been!?) He is a member of BTS. He’s such a happy chappy, his personality is so bright and warming and he is a great rapper. Back in March J-Hope, also known as Ho-seok, released his first solo mixtape. On that mixtape was Hope World, the title track. Hope World is a dance track in which J-Hope talks about his blessings. It’s such an awesome tune but unfortunately, there is no music video for it. However, you can still listen below to a lyric video.
Got7 – Look
The fourth of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is Got7 – Look. Got7 are another Korean boyband consisting of members JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. The band debuted in 2014 and have had big hits with songs like Just Right, If You Do, Never Ever and Hard Carry to name a few. Look is one of the band’s most recent songs. It’s a lighthearted house track with a slight 90s feel to it. I particularly love member Jackson’s lines in the song as his raspy voice is just a treat for my ears. Check out the song and the music video below.
Mikolas Josef – Lie To Me
The fifth of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is Mikolas Josef – Lie To Me. Now if you watched the Eurovision Song Contest then you may have spotted this song before. It was the Czech Republic’s entry and from the moment I heard it, I was hooked. Lie To Me is a song that kind of has vibes of Jason Derulo’s Talk Dirty and early Olly Murs. The song is full of swagger and thanks to the catchy addition of a trumpet instrumental it’ll have you wanting to get your boogie on in next to no time. Check the song out below.
Celine Dion – Ashes (Steve Aoki Remix)
The sixth of the really catchy songs I’ve been listening to in May is Celine Dion – Ashes, specifically the Steve Aoki remix version. That being said, the original version is still utterly beautiful and well worth a listen. Anyway, I first heard this song when myself and my fella went to see Deadpool 2 (Which was awesome may I add!) From what I’ve read, the song was specifically recorded for the Deadpool 2 soundtrack as a sort of modern-day version of My Heart Will Go On to fit the emotional feel of the film. The song is a ballad and the Steve Aoki remix just gives it a bit of a dancy feel. It’s a great track and showcases Dion’s super impressive voice really, really well. Give the song a listen below.
