After sharing my favourite songs in May I thought I’d do the same this month and talk about 8 impressive tunes that I’ve been loving in June. A lot of the songs mentioned in this post are K-Pop tracks so if that isn’t your thing, I am sorry. However, it is my cup of tea which is why I am mentioning so many Korean pop songs here on my blog. Duh. Anyway, I’ve been loving quite a few tracks this month but I’ve narrowed it down to those that I really had a strong love for. Check out my top 8 picks below.
SHINee – I Want You
The first of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been SHINee – I Want You. This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned SHINee here on my blog. The Korean boyband was mentioned in both my March favourite songs and in my April favourite songs posts. This monthly favourites post contains not one, but two SHINee songs. Not heard of SHINee? They are a K-Pop group consisting of Onew, Key, Minho and Taemin. The band was originally made up of five members but in December of last year member, Jonghyun tragically took his own life. I Want You is a song from SHINee’s newest album, The Story of Light. The song is quite energetic with a slightly tropical vibe to it and with lyrics like “I want you. I hope you’ll come to me with a different ending than last time. I can’t let you go. I dreamed of this moment every day.” There is no denying that it is a beautiful track.
SHINee – Good Evening
The second of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been SHINee – Good Evening. Good Evening is another track from The Story Of Light album but this track has more of a house feel to it. Many have said that it is similar to the group’s previous song View but it has much more of an R&B vibe to it. As well as the catchy chorus I also love Key’s English spoken lines where he says “I can feel we’re looking at each other through this door. Let’s see, you’re eyes nose lips cheek” Give the track a listen belong and check out the awesome creative choreography.
BTS – Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix)
The third of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been BTS – Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix) If you read my post on the Love Yourself: Tear Album then you’ll be aware that I really enjoyed the track, Fake Love. However, the boy group released a version that has a slight rock feel to it which I absolutely LOVE. The song its self about hiding your “bad” side in a relationship and how it won’t work as eventually, things will lead to the breakdown of a relationship. What the band are saying is you must truly love yourself or things will not last. The song is darker than BTS’ normal tracks. It is powerful and packed full of smooth harmonies. I also feel like the rock version just adds to the emotion of the song. Give it a listen and be sure to let me know what you think.
Blackpink – 뚜두뚜두 (DDU-DU DDU-DU)
The fourth of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been Blackpink – 뚜두뚜두 (DDU-DU DDU-DU) I absolutely love Blackpink. I feel like every single song of their’s has been top notch. Recently the girl group released a WELL overdue album (Thanks YG for finally pulling your finger out!) The album contains JUST four tracks which is kind of annoying but it is better than nothing considering we’ve been waiting an entire year since Blackpink last released any material. If you’ve not heard of the group they debuted in 2016 and consist of four members Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé. Their new album titled Square Up is well worth a listen to as it contains four banging tunes. The title track of the album, 뚜두뚜두 (DDU-DU DDU-DU) is particularly good. The song features synth hooks, catchy melodies and crisp beats. It is a true hip-pop track that is full of sass and charisma.
Asking Alexandria – Alone In A Room
The fifth of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been Asking Alexandria – Alone In A Room. Not heard of Asking Alexandria? They’re an English rock band from York who formed in 2006. The band consists of five members, Ben, Danny, James, Cameron and Sam. Alone In A Room is a track from the 2017 self-titled fifth album from the British group, Asking Alexandria. This album is also the first released since the return of original vocalist Danny. The track was released as a single in late March and features a strong rock/metalcore sound along with excellent lyrics. The song is catchy and powerful. It certainly deserves a listen in my opinion.
George Ezra – Paradise
The sixth of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been George Ezra – Paradise. Now I quite enjoy a George Ezra song every now and again. I really enjoyed Budapest and his latest track Shotgun is really starting to grow on me too. However, Paradise is definitely my favourite. Written by George himself the song is about “a feeling that takes over when you’ve fallen in love” and contains an absolute cracking beat. It’s just such a great feel-good song that’ll have you tapping your feet and shaking your booty in next to no time.
Emma Blackery – Agenda
The seventh of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been Emma Blackery – Agenda. After listening to the track Dirt I didn’t think Miss Blackery could top herself but the YouTube artist has done it once again. Agenda is a song about confidence. Speaking about the track Emma said, “It’s about loving yourself and being yourself and being confident … and knowing that can sometimes piss people off.” Agenda is basically a synth-pop track with sassy lyrics. It’s simply brilliant.
The Rasmus – In The Shadows
The eighth and final of the 8 impressive tunes I’ve been loving in June has been The Rasmus – In The Shadows. Now I’m aware this song isn’t new. In fact, it turned 15 this year. However, recently I rediscovered the song after hearing it on the radio and I fell in love with it all over again. I remember first listening to this track back when I was a carefree 8-year-old. I was obsessed with the song and its gothic rock vibe. It’s no surprise that the track from the Finnish alternative rock band achieved chart success here in the UK when it was released as it is a right tune. In The Shadows features powerful lyrics including its super catchy chorus “I’ve been watching, I’ve been waiting, in the shadows for my time. I’ve been searching, I’ve been living, for tomorrow’s all my life. In the shadows. In the shadows” The track just doesn’t feel like it has aged and will forever remain one of my all-time favourite songs.
