December 2016 Favourites
Affordable Oval Makeup Brushes
The first products to make it into my December 2016 favourites are two oval makeup brushes that I purchased as part of a set on AliExpress. These oval “toothbrush” style brushes have been everywhere recently. Many brands seem to be creating copies of the famous and expensive Artis brushes and these brushes definitely fit into that category. Now I’ll be honest when I first saw these brushes I thought it was just another trend. I didn’t think the brushes would be that great.
However, I did order myself a set of five brushes to try out. The brushes ended up costing me less than £5, even cheaper than some of the UK budget brands dupe versions. Anyway, the set arrived and I’ve got to admit, I’m impressed. The smaller brushes in the set don’t get reached for as often. However, these two larger brushes have been much loved. They’re made of synthetic hair but amazingly soft and work wonderfully for blending out product be it powder or cream. I’m going to be sharing a more in-depth post on these brushes in the new year. So if you are interested, do keep your eyes peeled.
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast HD Mascara*
The second product to make it into my December 2016 favourites is the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast HD Mascara. I’ve been familiar with this product for quite a while but after receiving a fresh tube in my Soap and Glory The Whole Glam Lot Set I fell in love with it all over again. This mascara comes housed in a beautiful gold tube. It also comes complete with a seven sided fan flare 180 brush with a v-groove. The formula is made up of collagen and works amazingly well at creating a voluminous look without clumping the lashes. As well as adding volume it also adds a little length without appearing too dramatic. Essentially this collagen mascara is one of those great gems from Soap and Glory.
W7 Hollywood Bronze and Glow
The last product to make it into my December 2016 favourites is the W7 Hollywood Bronze and Glow. Now I know I mentioned this in my November 2016 favourites but I’m still loving it. Therefore it also made it into this month’s favourites. Essentially this is a cheap Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow rip off. Whether it is truly identical to the pricey rival I cannot say as I’ve not actually tried the Charlotte Tilbury product. What I will say is that this product is a bronze and highlight duo. The formula of both the bronzer and highlighter are easy to work with as they’re not overly pigmented meaning your can build up the intensity and achieve an easy natural look. Both products are on the warm side but I can make them work on my cool toned skin due the light and buildable pigmentation.
