Home Fragrance From Poundland

Home Fragrance From Poundland

When it comes to Poundland I am a big fan, although I do admit that they sell a lot of things that aren’t that great in terms of quality, however, they do have some hidden gems amongst their tat so I am always open to trying out new things from them. One thing I’ve never really tried has been their home fragrance items so I thought I’d change that. Recently I picked up three different home fragrance items to try out so I thought I’d do a little round-up and review of what I thought of each product.

Coley and Gill Fresh Linen Reed Diffuser

The first thing I picked up was a reed diffuser in the fragrance Fresh Linen. Believe it or not, I’ve never actually purchased or used a reed diffuser before, you know, despite being a self-proclaimed home fragrance fanatic. In terms of the scent it is really quite a strong and powerful fresh linen scent. It does actually smell like freshly washed clothing however, it also smells very alcoholic which I found took quite a bit of getting used to. In terms of the wooden reeds, I really don’t have anything to compare them to so I’m not sure if they’re good quality or not, however I can say that I got five reeds along with the fragrance. To use the diffuser I simply dunked the reeds into the fragrance and placed the reeds evenly into the little glass jar which contains the blue coloured liquid. For the fragrance power, I wouldn’t say this is something to purchase if you are after a strongly scented product as it certainly isn’t capable of filling a room. It is more of a product that you can detect when you walk past it in close proximity. The only thing I will say is that for the diffuser to continue releasing fragrance, I find I have to flip the reeds over roughly twice a day. I’m not sure if this is normal however, I do find it is a bit of a hassle. I’ve also found that after two weeks of use the reeds are really starting to bend. I’m assuming this is because they are absorbing so much liquid which makes me think that they’re not going to last much longer. Would I repurchase this? Probably not. I am however open to trying other reed diffusers from other brands such as Yankee Candle. I think for a pound you really do get what you pay for when it comes to this item. I think if you’re after a cheap, cheerful and safer alternative to candles and wax tarts and you’re not too bothered about a powerful scent, this is an option.

Coley and Gill Strawberry Flower and Lilly Room Freshener

The second item I got was the Coley and Gill Strawberry Flower and Lilly Room Freshener. This is a red coloured liquid that comes housed in a thin frosted glass bottle. The scent is very, very sweet-smelling and is understandably a fruity floral mix. When I first sprayed the fragrance I did think it was okay, however, the more I’ve used it, the more I’ve found it to be sickly and a bit too overwhelming when first sprayed. I also find that the scent doesn’t actually last. I’ll spray it and 5 minutes later its as though I haven’t even bothered as the fragrance cannot be detected at all. Personally I would definitely not repurchase this as it just wasn’t my cup of tea but hey ho, others might really like this spray.

Coley and Gill Fresh Linen Pot Pouri

And last but not least I got a bag of the Coley and Gill Fresh Linen Pot Pouri and I’ve got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I actually got this to pour into a bowl for our bedroom, just to keep everything smelling nice and fresh and I must admit, it does smell very authentic and it is also quite strong too, although understandably over time the scent does die down. I’ve had my current bowl of potpourri in my room for two weeks and I can still pick up on the scent, although I will say that you have to dust this stuff everyday to keep it looking in tip-top condition. Anyway, I will certainly be repurchasing another bag of the Coley and Gill Fresh Linen Pot Pouri as I want to pop some into organza bags to keep our drawers and wardrobe as fresh as possible.

All in all I’ve got to say, Poundland home fragrance is very, very hit and miss. I think if you’re after something cheap and cheerful, it is worth checking out however, if you want strong scents and high quality products, I’d say you definitely get what you pay for, so stick with the likes of Yankee Candle and the other big name and well raved about fragrance names.
