It’s been quite a while since I last did a monthly favourites post. In fact, the last one I shared was my July 2017 Favourites and although I am still loving the likes of the Ordinary Silicone Primer I thought it was about time I talked about some other goodies that I have been loving.
Reading Manga: Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura
The first thing to make it into my January 2018 favourites is reading manga. I’ve been making my way through my Sailor Moon Manga Box Set. As a kid, I used to enjoy watching the Sailor Moon TV series so it is no surprise that I’ve really been enjoying reading the manga. Not heard of Sailor Moon? It is about Tsukino Usagi, a girl who becomes Sailor Moon, a soldier of justice who fights evil. I’ve also been reading Cardcaptor Sakura. In my opinion, if you enjoy Sailor Moon then I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy this too. The manga is about Sakura Kinomoto, a girl who discovered that she possesses magical powers when she accidentally frees a set of magical cards from a book. She’s then got to retrieve the cards to stop catastrophe.
Gaming: Xbox One and Nintendo 2DS
Another thing to make it into my January 2018 favourites is gaming. In December I purchased two gaming consoles. The first being an Xbox One S. I’ve played hours upon hours since getting the console with some of my favourite games being Mortal Kombat XL, Fallout 4, Doom, Dead Rising 4 and Stardew Valley. I’m also loving my Pink Xbox One Controller and my Baby Pink Gaming Headset. Speaking of pink things, I also bought myself a pretty Pink Nintendo 2DS which came with Tomodachi Life. Although I’ve been playing on my Xbox a lot more, I have still thoroughly enjoyed playing on Pokemon Sun.
Music: BTS – Love Yourself: Her
Another thing making it into my January 2018 favourites is an album. If you’ve not heard of BTS, they’re a Korean boy band who are becoming more and more well known in the west. The band consists of seven members RM, V, Jimin, Jin, Suga, Jungkook and J-Hope. Basically, they’re a good looking bunch of men who can’t half belt out a tune. Anyway, back in September, they released their album Love Yourself: Her which critics have stated contains a mix of electro-pop and hip-hop. I’ve loved the album since it’s release but it has grown on me more and more throughout January.
Each song is just brilliant and I can hand on heart say I love each and every one on the album. That being said I do have my favourites. For instance, Dimple is an absolute tune which shows off Jimin’s super sweet vocals. Mic Drop is another favourite due to its bad ass catchy vibe. I also love DNA for dance upbeat vibe. And there is, of course, Pied Piper which I feel really showcases all members very well. Basically, the album is incredibly catchy and the vocals are simply splendid.
Pretty Things: Cardcaptor Sakura Purse and Unicorn Glitter Phone Case
Also making it into my January 2018 favourites are two items from AliExpress. The first is my Cardcaptor Sakura Purse. This is a gorgeous large purse that features a beautiful design. The other item that I recently featured in my AliExpress January 2017 post was my Unicorn Glitter Phone Case for my Redmi Note 4 that I got for Christmas. This is such a pretty case that features quicksand glitter. Much like a snowglobe you shake it up and watch all the glitter fall. It is really quite mesmerising.
Makeup: Freedom Priming Water and W7 Skinny Lipping in Off The Wall
The final two items to make it into my January 2018 favourites are two makeup products. The first is the W7 Skinny Lipping in Off The Wall. This is a matte lipstick that I have been obsessed with. It is a lovely brown nude that has a slight peach tone to it. The formula is nice to work with, it isn’t super fast drying so you have room for error when it comes to application but once it is dry it lasts very well on the lips. I also love how lightweight it feels when on.
The second makeup product I’ve been loving is something that I have had for quite a while and that is the Freedom Priming Water. I first discovered this product back in 2015 and even mentioned it in my 2015 Favourites. Recently I rediscovered it and have been using it as a setting spray to give my makeup a healthy dewy look. It just works really well with my foundation and my skin.
