The Perfect Nude Base: L’Oreal Infallible Coconut Shake
If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while you might already be aware that I love the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows. I find they perform extremely well for being drugstore/high street shadows and they are available extremely cheaply from various discount makeup websites. Recently I added a new shade into my collection, L’Oreal Infallible Coconut Shake which cost me just £1.99 from Fragrance Direct (link)
The shade is a yellow toned peachy nude. It has a matte finish and a smooth but slightly chalky texture. The colour isn’t exactly exciting or colourful but I absolutely love using it as a colour base for other shadows. Now I do still apply primer to my lids whilst using this product. However, I find because it has that slight yellow undertone it really helps to eliminate the slight blue and purple toned discoloration on my lids caused by my veins. Not only that but the eyeshadow also really helps to brighten my eye area. Which in turn makes me look much more awake and gives a healthier appearance.
As you can see from above the shade is quite light in colour so it easily blends in with my natural skin tone. Those with darker skin might prefer to use L’Oreal Infallible Coconut Shake as more of a subtle highlighter shade. But if you are quite pale like me, you might find this to be a great nude.
A cheap as chips eyeshadow worth checking out
The only thing I would like to recommend is that if you’re working with Coconut Shake as an all over lid base colour, do not apply it with a brush. I know this sounds crazy but applying with a brush gives extremely poor application. It looks patchy and the colour really requires building up. To apply I simply use clean fingertips as I find I can get the most even coverage and blending out is fairly easy too.
As mentioned earlier I also like to use a primer with this shade. I do this not only to prevent pesky fallout but also to extend wear time. In a nutshell, Coconut Shake has decent wear time. It’s not poor but it’s not fantastic. Although I can get around 5 hours wear out of the shadow until I really begin to notice signs of creasing and fading. I personally find the primer just helps to keep it looking good for longer.
All in all, I do really enjoy using Coconut Shake. It is a shade that helps to prep my eye area for other colours and it is cheap as chips. It does take a little getting used to as the formula isn’t perfect. However, when you take into consideration the price, it isn’t too bad. Would I be more disappointed in his colour if I’d have paid full price for it? Of course! Compared to the other L’Oreal Infallible Colours it is poor so I definitely would have been annoyed. I think the £1.99 price tag it has on the Fragrance Direct is definitely what it is really worth.
Have you tried the L’Oreal Infallible Coconut Shake Eyeshadow? What did you think of it?
